Age Specific Program

비버스카우트[1][2][3]Beaver Scouts

Ages 4–5

Pre-school section; children learn about nature and cooperation through outdoor play and games with parents.

No confirmed progression stages.

컵스카우트[1][2][4][3]Cub Scouts

Ages 6–11

Junior section; age-based grades and hobby badges build teamwork and adventurous spirit.

  1. 다람쥐[4]Squirrel

    Age-based grade for ages 6-8. Wears the Squirrel badge and completes the Squirrel programme (10 hobby-badge activities recommended) under the leader.

  2. 토끼[4]Rabbit

    Age-based grade for ages 8-9. Wears the Rabbit badge and completes the Rabbit programme (10 hobby-badge activities recommended) under the leader.

  3. 사슴[4]Deer

    Age-based grade for ages 9-10. Wears the Deer badge and completes the Deer programme (10 hobby-badge activities recommended) under the leader.

  4. 곰[4]Bear

    Age-based grade for ages 10-11. Wears the Bear badge and completes the Bear programme (10 hobby-badge activities recommended) under the leader.

  5. 무지개Highest award[4]Rainbow

    Age-based grade for ages 11-12. Wears the Rainbow badge and completes the Rainbow programme (10 hobby-badge activities recommended) under the leader. After 6+ months and the bridging tasks, the Cub gains Tenderfoot Scout status.

스카우트[1][2][4][3]Scouts

Ages 12–14

The core section (patrol-based); advancement tasks and proficiency badges build skills and character.

  1. 초급스카우트[4][5]Tenderfoot Scout

    Entry stage from age 12: complete Tenderfoot tasks and pass the test (waived for Cubs coming from the Rainbow grade).

  2. 2급스카우트[4][5]Second Class Scout

    2 months as Tenderfoot with 80%+ attendance, Second Class tasks and test, plus Citizenship and Hiking badges.

  3. 1급스카우트[4][5]First Class Scout

    3 months as Second Class with 80%+ attendance, First Class tasks and test, 5 proficiency badges incl. First Aid, Camping, Outdoor Cooking, Mapping.

  4. 별스카우트[4][5]Star Scout

    4 months as First Class with 80%+ attendance, Star tasks and test, 5 proficiency badges incl. Traditional Etiquette, Safety, Pioneering.

  5. 무궁화스카우트[4]Mugunghwa Scout

    5 months as Star with 80%+ attendance, Mugunghwa tasks and test, 6 proficiency badges incl. Swimming, Conservation, World Friendship.

Ages 15–17

Senior section; members choose and design their own programme, building maturity and responsibility.

로버스카우트[2][1][7][3][1]Rover Scouts

Ages 18–24

Leader

Young-adult branch focused on community service, challenge and expedition activities. From the first year of university to age 24, extended by the length of military service for those who have served. Classed as leaders in the KSA charter.

No confirmed progression stages.

지도자[1][3]Adult Leaders

Ages 25+

Leader

Adult leaders after the Rover Scout years (25 and over). Under the KSA charter, leaders are 19 or older (Rover Scouts count as leaders) and are grouped by role into programme leaders (unit leaders, commissioners, training teams and Rover Scouts), supporting volunteer leaders, and professional staff.
